Pangkor Island 17 Oct - 20 Oct 2013 videos

TA DA ~~~ The videos are here! There are three videos (one video for each day) in total.

DAY 1

DAY 2

DAY 3

All in all, it was an amazing trip. We did not regret making the choice to go there. We learnt loads of new stuff - teamwork, not giving up, endurance and perseverance and including not chasing after your fallen cap.

Our classmates were awesome - we shared supplies and tips even if what we were doing are solely confidential for each team. The semester 2 students are really really epic - they helped us with our projects and biked with us even though they had their own tasks to do.

The lecturers were amazing. They were really proactive and often took immediate action in responding to the students' needs. They made the trip very fun and lively and the presents (fish snacks) were tasty.

The hotel managers were delighted to help out with our trip and they deserve a huge 'thank you' for keeping track on our bicycle expedition. They handed out water along the way, fixed the bike and arranged transport to the clinic to those who were injured. And we have never eaten such delicious seafood in our lives.

MLK process of a superhero

Updating from the previous post, we as a group are suppose to find what personifies MLK, have a situation to connect with his power and also have an action plan.

As for personification, we came up with Panda, cause who doesn't love a panda huhh. The reason behind it is because panda are in black and white which indicates for the white and black people, and also panda came from china so their are Asian which fits perfectly well because it's not only meant for the white and black but also the Asians. As you know by know MLK fights for equality and unity amonst all that's why it fair to have chosen a panda to symbolize him.

Carry on, for the situation : Racial riots
Riots doesn't bring anything good, it always end up with violence which is killing each other, hurting other people. Why should we have a riot? We know that it will end up bad don't we? Why continue doing such thing? People die and suffer. Changes need to be done no matter what. We don't want to see anyone getting hurt for fighting something that can be done in friendly way. We don't have to involve with any violence at all. Live in peace are much better than worrying wether you are safe wherever you are. I mean pre cautious are good, but what if you can't even get home safely even tho your are not involve with any of the riot? We keep searching for peace but the answer is there. Peace can be made if everyone open up their mind and try to accept one another rather than hate on each other for the rest of their life.

For the action plan we have taken incidents that has happen on the past, where black people are fighting for their rights in living in America. White people were brainwash by the thought of black people are dangerous and only meant for being slaves. MLK fought for black people right and try to change of what white people think of them. He tries to protest against rasicm, which considered the biggest problems faced through out the whole world. In particularly talking about Malaysia. We have three main races living in Malaysia even tho the country may seem on peace but everyday they are fighting for their rights, not in a violence way tho, but they are still fighting with each other. Take example on recent election, even after the election they are still having riots and creating havoc just to satisfies their own needs. We need to change this, that's why having a superhero like MLK would be good. We have to show everyone that being racist are no good.

This is how we interpret about our superhero MLK. See him in the costume? Suits him right? See how the bears are combine into a panda, awesome isn't it? Imagine if everyone stops fighting and start living in unity despite their differences.

Project #2 SUPERHEROES

For Project #2, we are asked to choose a real life person who we think is like a superhero and illustrate his traits according to Edward de Bono's 'Six Thinking Hats'.

In this particular topic we have chosen Martin Luther King as our superhero. His target is to fight for the black people's rights. It is not fair to just assume that black people are only slaves. We are all humans who are just different by our own distinct specialty and characteristics.

Martin Luther King addressed this problem faced by his people and himself and he tried to gain rights for equality among the people. Martin Luther King approached people with the ideals of peace and not with violence to make things worse. Unfortunately, there were people who were against it. They protested and made matters worse for him so that he will give up his hope/aim on achieving rights for the black people.

One of his speeches, 'I have a dream' was really popular because the message to end racism in the United States was depicted in a powerful and charismatic way which touched the hearts of a lot of people.

Sadly, Martin Luther King was assassinated in a motel room the day before he was suppose to give another speech. His sudden death shocked the world where many were waiting for an end to inequality among different races. Even though he had left the world, his legacy and dream still resides in the memories of the  people today.

He is a symbol to equality among different races. That is the reason why our group has chosen him as a superhero. In Malaysia, there are 3 main different races which are Malays, Chinese, and Indians. A few racial riots happened in the past, and one of them is the May 13 incident. If Martin Luther King was still alive he would be a great superhero to fight for equality.

The mind map that we designed comprises of 6 thinking hats. There are green, red, yellow, black, white and blue .

Green hat - creativity 'what can you do with it'
Red hat - emotion 'how do you feel about the design' human reaction
Black hat - negativity 'critic'
Yellow hat - positive 'supporting'
Blue hat - planning, organization
White hat - research, knowledge, factual data

Our mind map has something like a wheel behind it so we can turn it around to see information about Martin Luther King in accordance with the color of the hats.

Martin Luther King is also wearing a costume with a capital M in the middle. When he flashes a bright light from his logo, anyone who are racist they will transform into peace loving, open minded citizens. Cool power right???
